Crosbyton
January 5, 2022
Raised brick trim highlights the Crosbyton’s lofty arched porch. The trim and brick veneer columns serve as an artful frame for the multipaned arched transom sparkling in the background. Taken together, these features give this single-level ranch-style home a European flavor.
Natural light spills into the high-ceilinged entry through the arched transom plus a multipaned sidelight. The short passageway there, angling off to the left, opens out into a vaulted great room that is open to the dining room and kitchen. The rear wall is richly glassed, and the dining room has a wide window bay as well. Sliding glass doors offer access to a wide screened porch, which allows pest-free outdoor living when the temperature climbs.
An angled island partially separates the kitchen from the dining area, as does a flat ceiling. The raised eating bar that rims one edge of the island is a great place for family members to grab quick meals, and visitors to chat with kitchen workers. The counters and cabinets spanning two long walls provide abundant work and storage space.
Laundry appliances are conveniently close yet hidden behind a pocket door. The pass-through utility room has a folding counter and a door to the garage.
Bedrooms cluster together on the opposite side of the house. The owners’ suite is at the rear and has direct access to the screened porch, a pleasant place to mellow out before bed on a warm evening. The suite has a private bathroom, plus two closets, one of them a deep walk-in.
Two more bedrooms are at the front of the Crosbyton. The one closest to the front door is conveniently located for use as a study or home office.
