Arched garage door openings, brick veneer, and multipaned windows lend a European look to the Mooresville, a contemporary duplex with a traditional flavor. Each two-bedroom unit offers nearly 1,100 square feet of living space in a mirror-image floor plan.
Entering, you step into a vaulted living room that’s completely open to a flat-ceilinged dining room at the rear. The rectangular window bay that brightens and expands the space toward the street could be outfitted with a window seat, left as is, or filled with potted plants. For families that enjoy decorating a Christmas tree, this spot can’t be beat!
Light washes into the rear of the living/dining room through wide sliding glass doors. These windows also offer access to a patio that could be covered and screened, if desired. Either way, the occupants have a good-sized area for barbecuing and sharing outdoor meals, all within just a few steps of the kitchen.
Counters and cabinetry run along two walls of the kitchen, and people working at the sink have a bird’s eye view of the rear yard. Children playing there can be viewed from inside. Full-size laundry appliances fit neatly into an alcove on the opposite side of the room. Shelves or cabinets fill the wall space above.
